Beagle Club Funday 21st July 2018

We will be starting the day by recognising the beagle as a working hound so all of you who want to try your hand at being judged on the flags (like the pack hounds) or following a scent trail do be sure to arrive for the 10.30h start.

We will move on by enjoying the beagle as a companion and pet with a series of fun and games as well as a barbeque (for owners not the beagles) and spend the afternoon celebrating the beagle as a show dog with a judging and handling demonstration followed by a fun dog show

Although Beagles had been used for several centuries for hunting in Southern Europe and Britain, it was not until the late 19th century they were exhibited at dog shows in this country. However, there was no organisation for either of these activities, so in 1890 The Beagle Club was formed to promote the breeding of Beagles for sport and show purposes. In 1891 the Association Masters of Harriers and Beagles was formed to regulate hunting activities.
